That should work fine.

Hi everyone!

I swapped my old Ryzen 5 1600 and installed a Ryzen 7 3700X. After doing so, i can get into the UEFI but I can't find a way to boot into WIndows.

Windows 10 is installed on a M.2 SSD.

After starting the PC, the following message showed up:

"New CPU installed, fTMP NV corrupted of fTPM NV structure changed.

Press Y to reset fTPM, if you have Bitlocker or encryption enabled, the system will not boot without a recovery key.

Press N to keep previous fTMP record and continue system boot, fTMP will NOT enable in new CPU, you can swap back to the old CPU to recover TMP related keys and data"

Since I do not use Bitlocker or any other encryption I pressed "Y"

Otherwise there was nothing unusual.

Can anyone help me?

Could be loose connection between the m.2 slot. However if not so, you could try to put it into another slot. Also CPU's can do funny things inside the UEFI/BIOS so just check if the boot drive in the BIOS is selected on Windows

The Drive is recognised in BIOS. But even when I override to boot on m.2 it says something like “insert boot device and press any key”

Reseating the m.2 didn’t change anything and my mainboard has only one m.2 slot. I use a Msi b350m pro-vdh

Clearing the TPM can result in data loss. ... Clearing the TPM causes you to lose all created keys associated with the TPM, and data protected by those keys, such as a virtual smart card or a login PIN. Make sure that you have a backup and recovery method for any data that is protected or encrypted by the TPM.

So, you would suggest that windows uses the tpm to boot and by switching the cpu (and thus the tpm) windows won’t boot?

Yes,The TPM encryption keys only work with the CPU that was installed at the time they were created.

But why doesn’t it boot with the old cpu?

Because you reset the TPM encryption keys...
