I finally decided to overclock my Core i5-3570, and I was just wondering how safe my temps are. I have overclocked to 4.0 GHz and, running Prime95, the CPU temps are around 65-67C, maxing out at around 70C. Are these safe temps or should I lower (or get rid of) my overclock?
Thanks.

Those are well within safe temps. Is your CPU a K series?

what cooler are you using, but those temps are fine as long as it is under 80-85c

No, I accidentally added the wrong CPU to my Newegg cart and I didn't even realize that I had purchased the wrong one until a few days later.

I am using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

All you can do really is increase your BCLK and Vcore.

Your memory clock will increase. To combat the instability, add more ram voltage and/or loosen timings (make them bigger numbers). soo, do this. set your memory frequency as low as you can while your increasing your BCLK. after you have confirmed cpu stability you can start bringing your memory back up to rated spec or overclock the memory further.

you might lose stuff like HDDs or video cards, fixing that is as simple as clearing CMOS. raising that bclk can really help overall system speed but too much can bork it temporally.

Here's another option, leave it stock (or just above) for now and focus on making the fans silent. If you don't run benchmarks, you wont notice the difference.

set fan to lowest RPM

run aida64 FPU stress test or P95 small fft

below 90c? pass! enjoy the silence
