1080Ti suitable replacement

Phizix

Hi all,

Forgive me if this question has been asked a million times already but I'm wondering what would be a suitable replacement for my EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2?

I tend to mainly play games with the card and do the occasional hash cracking but nothing too over the top. It's currently running my Alienware AW3418DW.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I mean really nothing less than a 3080 will be that huge of an upgrade.

So a 1080ti is similar to a 3060\3060ti, if you are looking to upgrade as you need more FPS or want ray tracing you are probably going to want to go with a 3080 or higher at the least, otherwise it is probably not worth upgrading at all as the 1080ti is still a very capable GPU.

I would suggest you wait if you can as new cards this year are expected from AMD, Nvidia and even Intel.  Which means if you upgrade now, in 6 months there will be another generation out.

This.

I'm also rocking a 1080Ti and, at this point, I just don't think it's worthwhile buying anything.

I'd rather wait until later this year when both AMD and nVidia are expected to announce and launch their new series of cards.

Thank you everyone!

I think from the above advice I'll wait until later in the year and see what Nvidia brings out!

Thanks again!

I did replace my EVGA 1080 ti SC2.

This is the difference in two games.

i7 8086k(Intel 6 core)

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Highest preset.

                                                                 1080p     1440p            4k

EVGA SC2 1080 ti                                    123fps        84fps      ----- Below 60fps

EVGA FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti                        148fps      119fps       65fps  =< 3070 ti

EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti                        156fps      147fps       95fps

Assassins Creed Odyssey on Ultra high

                                                                 1080p     1440p            4k

EVGA SC2 1080 ti                                    77fps        65fps      ----- Below 60fps

EVGA FTW3 Ultra 2080 ti                        92fps        80fps        54fps  =< 3070 ti

EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 ti                      105fps        94fps        66fps

My i7 8086k was at 5ghz all cores.

Compared to my 5800x and i9 10900k performance tanked on the i7 with the 3080 ti.

I would go with a 3070 ti or 3080 if you plan on keeping the i7 8700k for a while.
