ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Card v2 not working with ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus & AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

Hey Guys,

 

I've plugged in a ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Card v2 into my new motherboard and it doesn't seem to show up.

Do you guys know why this might be?  Do I need to upgrade the card to ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 PCIe 4.0?

How many drives did you put on that card, what slot did you plug it into, and what are the rest of the pcie slots used for. Using a card like that is when pcie lanes (or more accurately, lack thereof) becomes a bit of a concern and I wouldn't be surprised if you've just run out of pcie lanes

What motherboard?

I missed the motherboard in the title. 

Does it show up if you put it in the top x16 slot, and then the GPU in the second x16 slot?

The V2 also says it works with HEDT, but doesn't say it works with consumer CPUs, like the 5900x.

In all likelihood, you a) don't have bifurcation turned on in BIOS, b) don't have drives in the M.2 slots that are actually available (due to PCIe lane allocation restrictions), or c) did you put M.2 drives in the card?

 

IMO, Hyper cards are pointless on consumer platforms, and only really make sense on HEDT/WS builds.

The Hyper M.2 card won't show up as anything, it doesn't have any hardware that does PCIe lane bifurcation (thus why it's so cheap vs the $600 or so cards that do), it's essentially a shell with a fan. You need a mobo and CPU that support PCIe lane bifurcation, that CPU and motherboard should as the mobo manual states this:

You may have to use the first x16 slot for it though, but check through your BIOS and see if it lets you enable it for other slots.
