Experiencing difficulty when powering on my PC

That's the way to test the button.
If the same happens, then the issue is either the motherboard or the PSU. But test first.
Agreed.

As the title says, I am having difficulty powering up my system. When I press the power button, it can either power on normally or not power up at all. If it doesn't power up, I have to either long-press the power button or press it multiple times before it finally starts up. Note that, once powered up, I experience no issues (i.e. no sudden shutdowns, BSOD, or crashes).
System details (full system specs and peripherals on my profile
CPU: i7 8700k - stock
MOBO: MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon
RAM: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 (XMP Profile enabled)
GPU: GALAX RTX 3080 SG (manually OCed but not by much)
PSU: Corsair RM650 Gold Plus Modular Power Supply - around 6-7 years old
I suspect that it might be either a PSU issue or a power button issue. What do you guys think?
Start with the 'simple' things first. A dodgy power button is a simple workaround.
Disconnect the front panel PWR, and press the MB power button (if available) or short the power on pins. If it works fine every time then the power button is faulty.
If it continues acting up then cheapest option to swap out 1st would be PSU.
But make sure u've checked everything else first, like re-seating all the PSU power cables in the MB and GPU, using 2 separate power leads for the GPU instead of the daisy chained single lead etc.
Dying PSU's can cause all sorts of problems many of which are also symptoms of other possible issues making it a PITA to pin down. I had to deal with this recently myself (system crashes). While the recommended is 750w, a system like urs in typical gaming scenarios likely hits up to 550W, so it 'should ' be ok. Its whether or not there are any spikes on start up and if the PSU is indeed dying.
