So I have a dell vostro 200, I installed an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz Desktop Processor after wards I got automatic repair, then processor start timeout error and was in a reboot loop. Tried to rearrange the boot option, now I got this. (Windows 10 btw)

Sometimes I just like the headlines.  I was all ready with “mayonnaise doesn’t go there”. This isn’t as severe as that though.

Dells aren’t really atx.  They just look like they are and use a lot of the same parts.  Not all, just a lot.  It’s real possible for instance that the Dell BIOS (Dell specs their own motherboards and writes their own bios) doesn’t have that cpu as an option in which case it won’t work, or that that cpu draws too much power for the PSU or motherboard or something they bundled with that device.  Or even that on that particular model Dell did something obnoxious in the bios so it won’t work right because you didn’t buy the higher priced model and they didn’t want people upgrading the cpu except through them.  You have to be real real careful when hotrodding Dells and sometimes things that look like they should be doable aren’t.   There may be a way to do it (using a different Dell part number PSU or something.  It’s highly likely that you’ll need to put the original CPU back.  If it runs fine after  you put the cpu back you haven’t done any harm.  It appears to post though which means this could be a drive or windows problem.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
