my first 5950x build finally complete. like to know what you think

Go to solution Solved by Allyxxx,

It's a decent build. The Gigabyte manual recommends putting a single pair of dual channel memory in A2 and B2. I don't know if benchmarking speed would give different results.

Hi everyone,

just completed my 5950x build. hope you like.

Seems like a nice build to me. I like the video you made covering it, nice editing too.
The AIO is cool with the fan, never seen that one before. The placement is good for it in front.

By the way, you forgot to put the RTX 3060 in your description.

By the parts list it looks ok so you didnt go massively overpaying for garbage or getting really inferior parts, you could have improved on rams though since 32gb ballistix would blow those out of the water considering 4000 cl16 oc is easy on ballistix, upto 4500+ cl18

Overall looks ok, nothing to burn, nothing to write home about

I agree, he could push more out of his pc if he had higher frequency RAM, which is fairly easy on Ryzen 5000. 3000mhz is fine, but mostly for Ryzen 2000/3000 builds.

Still, the RAM that he chose isn't bad and it's 32GB. It's fine for most tasks and general multitasking. He indeed didn't overpay for something like pricey RGB RAM.

I do rendering in my daily work and wanted to build high end and fast rendering system. but I had limited budget. I already had 32GB of RAM from my old system where I installed 64gb but it was not all that needed so I could reuse that 32GB in this system thats why the RAM is 3000mhz. if I had to buy it today I could have bought atleast 3600mhz.

also the most important part for me was the processor and I wanted to overclock it to get maximum rendering power and I knew 5950x is the most efficient fast and overclockable processor with low TDP as compared to 12900k. my workload is Corona renderer and 5950x shines in every expect here. that's why I spend more money in liquid cooler that is not that costly but is the best for the cooling performance and also silent.(based on gamers nexus review) I also got it in deal for only $105.

I also didn't wanted to spent on NVMe that much I knew its 7gbps speed but I could have gone with normal 3.5gbps ssd and in real life the difference is not that visible and could have saved some more bucks but then there was no point in buying B550 board so I went for 500GB WD SN850 which is also I got in deal for 100$.

For Motherboard I went for B550 cause as I said i do not want put anything extra as far as gen4 is concerned and also after following Buildzoid motherboard recommendation i found this particular motherboard best and cheap solution for 5950x. it has actual VRM fins heatsink on motherboard and is also good in VRM design. I could have gone with ROG or MSI Tomahawk but they were expensive and waste of money for me.

after all the benchmark testing I am getting the same score as looked at cpumonkey or anywhere else on internet. so i am so happy that I build this system. I initially wanted to wait for the Zen4 but given the timeline and that it will be DDR5 only and the DDR5 sky high prices I think this justifies its place right now. processor is also got cheaper nowdays around $650 which was also getting scalped when launched.

I also thank the online forums and Youtube channels like Linus and many others who share there opinions which makes it easy to decide which parts to buy.

I was under the impression the HOSES have to be above the pump. His hoses are at the bottom of the case, which is gonna cause the pump to work harder pushing it all through or atleast, with my understanding.

You want the hoses at the bottom rather than the top so they don't pull in air.

DId you even watch the video? lolol "Placing the pump at the top of the loop is the quickest way to cause noise or early replacement of the cooler".  🤣 thanks for proving my point. His pump is at the top of his loop.

System Service Exception

Memory Management

etc. and I was so confuse what the problem is but after following your advice I changed Memory slot to A2 and B2 and all BSOD's gone. computer is stable rock solid. Thanks a lot.

It is not about working harder. In any loop there is an air gap. It is impossible not to have one. As such if the pump is the highest part of the equation then the air gap will end up in the pump. Meaning that first it will make gurgling sounds, and then eventually it will kill the pump. The reason this happens is because the pump can not be ran with any air in it. It is designed to be fully submerged, and the "bearing" is usually a dry shaft that must remain fully submerged so that it does not grind. Which it will if there is any air in the pump, which there will be due to the way this is routed.

This stands true for any water pump, and or engine that uses a water pump. It is why boats and jet skis have a hose inlet for you to pump water in for testing the engine on dry land etc.
