cache SSD 250gb for my HDD media server, worth it or not?

Jess27

Hi guys,

I have an old pc used as a media server for my home, it runs with win 10 pro and I use plex media server for my personal network.

it's a 6600k with an ASUS Z170M-E D3 and 4x 4gb ddr3; 250gb m.2 ssd boot drive and 1 WD red NAS HDD 3tb for my media + same in 2tb for my photos

Since I have a spare 250gb ssd, I was thinking of using it as cache for my media library (3tb hdd)

Is it worth it? or will it just get me the satisfaction of running through the installation (learning/trouble)

Thanks for your help and advice

There is no point at all in putting a cache drive in a media server for home use... better served using that SSD somewhere it may actually add value which is likely anywhere except in your media machine, lol.

thanks for your input, I kind was hopping it would improve transfer or loading time in reading.
