Windows 11 key from upgrade.

I'm about to swap my boot drive for a new one, so a fresh install is coming.

I want to try out Win11. Currently on 10.

If I allow 10 to do the free upgrade to 11 before I change the drive, will I be able to do a fresh install of 11 after that?

Will my original key for 10 work or do I get a new one?

You should be able to.  The 'key' is tied to the hardware and as long as you haven't made any major changes it should activate.

Windows 10 keys work for Windows 11. No need to let it upgrade first. Not sure what type of key you have. I used all my Windows 10 keys when I installed Windows 11 (clean installs)

I have an OEM key that I bought when I first built the computer.

Your key is tied to your mobo. But if you want to make things easy, connect it to your MS account.
