Is Sleeve Bearing Psu not durable?

Purgatory420

I bought a CX450 m PSU after the forum told me not to buy Gigabyte p450b. However I just saw a linus video where he told that sleeve bearing which Corsair have is the lowest quality fan and it only has a life of 30k hours in 60 degree celcius which is not too far from normal where I live which is around only 3 and half years.

Even Gigabyte which was a lot cheaper than the CX450m had a hydro bearing which is superior according to linus. So will my PSU fan fail even before it's warranty or will die just after completing it's warranty barely?

Can't say. I had a CX400 (Seasonic made) that had the fan start to rattle short after the warranty passed. I had to replace the fan.

Since I couldn't find a fan with a similar starting voltage at that time (fan availability and fan specs availability wasn't like today), I got a random (Xilence 120mm 1400rpm) Hydro Bearing fan, replaced the original fan and stuck the molex power cable it uses through the hole together with Corsairs power cables, connected it to a molex. The PSU worked for years after that, and is still in a working condition (I just don't use the old PC it is in and I might sell it soon).

The PSU had a 3 year warranty. I believe mine is 12-13 years old now.

Are you living on the edge of a live volcano ?

First, Corsair CX uses rifle bearing, which Yate Loon SH is.

Second, yes, it's cheap and will fail earlier than Hong Hua rifle in CX-F/RM/RMx or FDB in HX, but CX is a budget unit and you can't expect it to live for 10 years really, it should live at least as long a 5 years since that's warranty length on that PSU, otherwise they'll lose money on RMA claims. If and when it eventually fails and it would be out of warranty or the warranty is somehow not an option then to make sure the PSU doesn't blow up you should pick a pressure optimized fan that would work at the RPM higher than stock one, but it's a tricky ordeal so at that point just replace the PSU altogether, or buy a better PSU with higher quality fan in the first place (like CX-F/RM/RMx) so it lasts longer.

It's not a hydro bearing. Either way if it's 60c in your house you shouldn't even use a pc thats computer killing ambient temps :p.

Don't worry about it the fan will last the warranty at least. I've had psu's with far crappier fans last forever and high end ones have ones that broke soon after buying.

Either way you got a decent psu that won't kill your system here like the gigabyte.

In corsair site it says cx450 m uses sleeve wearing. Also I don't live near a volcano but the house I live in is really hot and in summer which will come soon there's a continuous sweating despite having fan. And since I am from middle class my family can't afford air conditioner.

Yes, because rifle bearing, just as FDB are types of sleeve bearing too. @jonnyGURUwould be able to confirm that Yate Loon SH fans in Corsair PSUs are all rifle now, or deny idk.

Still, it shouldn't be anywhere near 60°C unless you don't have a roof over your head. Corsair CX-m is rated for 40°C ambient, which may be a bit too low if you already have an ambient temperature about 40°C and the PC itself adds 10-15°C under load but idk, at this point get a better PSU if you're so worried. You don't buy a 50$ PSU and expect it to be indestructible.
