CS 1.6 question

got back to 1.6 after a long time (much better than GO). but i have a question. when i buy a weapon why doesnt it come up in my hand immediatly and why do i have to manually switch to it? I remember when I bought guns before the primary weapon or secoondary weapon would jump up straight into my hand. Now I have to buy them and switch to them. Is this just a server thing?(depending on which server you are on?)

Primary one should come to hand after buy if I remember it correctly. Then there's the option which lets you choose when you pickup guns you equip them immediedly. I don't know why it would be a server option. Most people choose to run with pistol/knife after buy anyway.
