Max# of monitors to a 6700xt/6900xt?

I'm rocking a 670xt right now, and I currently have 4 monitors (2 HDMI 2 DP). I haven't tried this yet, but if I got some HDMI/DP splitters, would I be able to get more screens? Is there a limit?

I'm planning on upgrading to a 6900xt(nice) soon, is there a limit for that one?

I've found conflicting issues online and would hope someone that has actually tried this could help

4 discreet monitors is the limit due to number of output ports.

 

Splitters would just duplicate the signal to another monitor but will not provide an additional discreet screen.
