MOS Blackpack cleaning

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

something i've done in the past to get smell out of a backpack was to just douse it in deodorant... but ofcourse watch out with the stuff like "axe dry" and deodorants like that, they contain a whole lot of stuff that wont evaporate well.

past that, just a soapy sponge and elbow grease can do wonderss already.

as for stuff to avoid.. i generally tend to "progressively increase" in the products i use, starting with very soft "things you use on your body" level of products, and get more intense as the previous thing didnt work. if you go straight for something that damages the material you cant go back, but if something less didnt help it's either stained backpack or faded color from an intense cleaning product.

Well, it's been a good 2? years where I haven't had to worry about it.
However, I just found that my cats peed all over the top of the backpack.
It was easy to just pour off the liquid part but I'm unsure if I should just machine wash it or hand wash it?
Any recommendations on getting the smell out?
Any products to avoid?
I can't find anything about MOS and its care from the Kickstarter or anything.

Much appreciated! I'm going to try the ol' elbow grease and soap sponge, wife was certain she could just "throw it in the wash" but I'm worried about all the zippers and netting and the padding on the back of the backpack etc.

i get a bit annoyed at the "just toss it in the wash" argument, even with how many winter coats, pillows, bags, and mixed material sweaters my mom has ruined in the wash, she keeps doing it...

especially with a backpack there's so many unknowns that it's really a last ditch effort to go with what's defenately the thermonuclear solution in backpack care.

Well, some people don't know how to use washing machines and driers.

Different fabrics require different treatment, and there are fabrics that a washing machine will ruin them.

Most fabrics can be used with a washing machine with no damage what so ever as long as you use the right temperature for each type.

Different fabrics may need different temperatures, but if the temperature is too high for the fabric then it can ruin your clothes.

Try soaking it in water and soap, leave it there for 3 hours and then wash it by hand.

If you end up going for soap and water:

Hand soap-> plain arm and hammer detergent(very gentle on fabrics)->Dawn
