Hey yall so I've got a few questions. Currently I am rocking a i7 9700k, but I have recently gotten into more 3d modeling and have started photography, so I'm spending time in photoshop aswell among other programs similar. I've definitely started to notice areas my cpu is struggling already. With the prices of everything right now a full upgrade would be a stretch for me but I am wonder if the upgrade to a i9 9900k would be worth the spend, or to just deal with my current situation and go for the full system upgrade when able

If you can find a 9900k for less that 250$ then maybe its worthwhile, but other wise just do a 5.2g+ overclock on your cpu and wait for a full platform upgrade so you wont be stuck on a dead platform

Btw 14nm volt spec is 1.52v so dont need to worry about volts just temps

What region are you in? In the US right now you can get a Core i5 12400 and MSI Pro B660M-A for $350. For multithreaded tasks, the 12400 is comparable to the 9900K, and for single threaded tasks it's a good bit faster. And that board can handle CPUs like the 12700 as a future upgrade, meaning that you not only get 9900K performance today, but have a meaningful upgrade path for the future, too, rather than being stuck on a dead platform.

Also, if you don't need the iGPU for QuickSync or anything, the 12400F is $30 cheaper.
