Been playing Elden Ring ever since release and after a bit in the game my computer just restarts Itself. Most of my hours spent in the game have been all troubleshooting. I also remember the same thing happening to me in Hunt:Showdown about a year or so ago but never looked into it much because I just never played the game much anyways.

So far I've updated my BIOS, Windows should be up to date, uninstalled GPU drivers using DDU and reinstalled them, those didn't seem to work at all!

Read that EasyAntiCheat could be causing it somehow, tested Hunt:showdown and can confirm it still causes the issue as well and both games use EAC! Tried recreating the same with other games using EAC with no luck! Although it's difficult to recreate because the times it restarts seems to be random. The latest thing I’ve done is Uninstall ASUS armory crate because I’ve also read EAC and ASUS armory don't play well? And was able to play the longest I've been able to! (close to 2hrs) So Fixed?

I’ve also ran tests with Heaven, Cinebench, and Windows Memory Diagnostic(is memtest better?). All came back fine, maybe needed to run the bench tests longer, but overheating doesn’t appear to be the issue.

So I guess at this point I'm wondering if it's my PSU or if it's ASUS armory and EAC playing games (and not me! haha)? I'm assuming it’s my PSU because I wouldn't see why ASUS and EAC would just restart my computer and not just close the Games all together?

I have another PSU from an old system that's an EVGA Supernova 850G2 (850W) but not sure if it will be able to handle my current hardware.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

OS: Windows 10 Pro (Version: 21H1, Build 19043.1526)

MB: ASUS X570 I-Gaming (BIOS 4021 as of today it was the latest)

CPU: AMD 5950x (no overclocking done)

GPU: ASUS 3090

RAM: 2x32GB 3600 G.Skill TridentZ Neo

PSU: SilverStone SX-1000 (1000W)

SSD: Samsung 980 PRO (1TB)

My apologies if this was too long, I've tried to solve it by myself but want to be thorough in my approach.

Sounds like PSU to me also. Try running some stress tests for both your CPU and GPU at the same time and see if it shuts off. I'd recommend Aida64 and checking all the boxes except System Memory and System Storage.

You might not be getting restarts with Heaven and Cinebench because they really only target one component at a time.

How long is a good time to run AIDA64 for? Also as I've been running it looks like its only putting the load on the CPU and not the GPU as well do you have to run two separate tests at the same time?

Since we're testing the PSU here, if it wasn't strong enough you'd experience a restart almost immediately after starting the test since it will draw full power right off the bat. If that's not the case, maybe 10-15 minutes. Just make sure to watch your temperatures.

You should have the following boxes checked. If you don't see the GPU box you could also run Furmark and run them simultaneously with aida hitting the CPU and Furmark on the GPU.

Shot in the dark but do you have the 4-pin sensor cable connected that's part of the 24/20-pin cable? Also does your PSU have an "eco mode"? My PSU has an eco mode and I had to turn it off because the computer would just shut off if I had it on.

Also another thing to try. Get a display driver uninstaller like DDU and completely wipe all the display drivers and install them fresh. Sometimes display drivers can cause shut-offs.

That's about the limit of my knowledge. I hope one of these solutions helps.

I had those same boxes checked and looking at NZXT cam didn't show that my GPU was under load, Cam probably not a good software to use to see that, also guess I expected AIDA to show the GPU load as well. I ended up getting GPU-Z and it was showing that my GPU was under load with the AIDA GPU box checked.

Ran it for 30 mins and nothing! AIDA did stop responding but only for a few seconds and my NZXT here and there wouldn't show the CPU temp. GPU-Z showed my GPU temps was at a steady 72° and Core Temp showed CPU temp at a steady 78°.

So with that said and done not my PSU? Chances are I'm going to change it out anyways seeing that according to the PSU tier list the one I have now is a Tier C. But it still baffles me, could Armory Crate and EAC really cause a PC to just restart? I re-downloaded Armory Crate to see if it will cause the issue again but so far it doesn't look like it. or is there a more underlining issue?

Checked the 4pin it is plugged it, also my PSU doesn't have an ECO mode, and used DDU pretty early on in the troubleshooting phase. But all good points to check appreciate the input!
