Remote access help

I've been recently working on an older laptop, and it isn't the best for what I need to be doing, is it possible to remote access my home pc when I'm out of home, and does anyone know any good solutions to this?

Note : Connection isn't an issue

The proper solution would be to set up/enable the VPN server on your router (provided it supports this). This will allow you to connect to your home network from remote.

 

Then you can simply use Remote Desktop to connect to your PC, provided it is running. Never expose RDP directly to the internet for security reasons.

 

If the IP you get from your ISP changes over time, you'll also want some no-ip service, so you can use a host name to connect, rather than memorizing your puplic IP for the day.

you can also use parsec, but it will have more lag than a vpn.

Didn't think of that. Though, depending on what OP is doing, I wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable sharing over a 3rd party server.

ohhhh, sorry wasn't sure, but yeah, it's not like I'm doing anything that is risky to be doing over this and seems to work well enough

Sure, if that works for you, nothing wrong with it. Much easier to set up than the alternative. Was just thinking if e.g. you'd be using this for work or editing documents containing personal data, it might not be what you're looking for.

yeah it should be fine, but now my pc the I'm using as host is crashing / freezing up...
