The proper solution would be to set up/enable the VPN server on your router (provided it supports this). This will allow you to connect to your home network from remote.

 

Then you can simply use Remote Desktop to connect to your PC, provided it is running. Never expose RDP directly to the internet for security reasons.

 

If the IP you get from your ISP changes over time, you'll also want some no-ip service, so you can use a host name to connect, rather than memorizing your puplic IP for the day.

Remember to either quote or @mention others, so they are notified of your reply

you can also use parsec, but it will have more lag than a vpn.

Didn't think of that. Though, depending on what OP is doing, I wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable sharing over a 3rd party server.

Sure, if that works for you, nothing wrong with it. Much easier to set up than the alternative. Was just thinking if e.g. you'd be using this for work or editing documents containing personal data, it might not be what you're looking for.

yeah it should be fine, but now my pc the I'm using as host is crashing / freezing up...
