Recommendations for a stock Laptop Cooler?

Hey LTT Forum first post here.

I have a Lenovo Idea pad flex.  And while it has an additional mobile graphics card (an MX230) I find that after 30 minutes to an hour performance tends to tank due to thermal throttling.

I've tried elevating it and getting more airflow but the problem remains.

My mom got a Laptop cooler and she likes it a lot. So I wondering if anyone has recommendations for something I can buy off of Amazon and trust that it will work.

I'm looking for something I can buy and plug in and not worry about it.  I'm not looking to make my own or anything.

First off, welcome to the forum and happy first post!

The recommendation for laptop coolers varies from laptop to laptop, greatly because the air intake/exhaust points vary on models. You'll want to be 100% sure that you have intakes in the BOTTOM and exhaust out the back/side, if you have a bottom exhaust laptop you'll actually end up hindering performance.

Note where your intakes are on the bottom and get a cooler where the fans are in similar places. I've also had great success with an aluminum laptop stand with a small USB fan pointed at the bottom of my Razer Blade 2020 with a i7 10875H + 2070MQ .

Might as well close the thread with this.

my laptop has the intake from the bottom and feeds out the back.

My current janky set up is using a cookie sheet to prop up the laptop.  And I guess I probably should work on tracking down a USB fan.

Thanks for your help!
