Hi guys, I'm writing this because I've kind of been out of the loop with the PC parts news and what's currently the best performance/value for money e.t.c., since my last upgrade which was in late 2019 to my GPU. I mainly play WoW and League, and streaming abilities are a must. I mainly want to upgrade my CPU & Mobo (as i think my socket is way out of date) as I have noticed a very large slow down and issues playing WoW and other cpu heavy tasks. I don't think the rest of my parts are an issue at the moment but let me know if there is an issue.

Budget (including currency): £400~800+

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WoW League/OBS/Discord stream/Mild machine learning/data analysis/Generic tasks

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

3x monitors, 1920x1080 27" 144hz x2 60hz x1

CPU: i7-6700k @ 4Ghz

Mobo: Asus Z170 Pro

GPU: MSI NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super

RAM: 32GB @ 2400 MHz (don't remember name/brand, but it was a decent one)

PSU: Corsair TX-M 650 80+ Gold

Case: H500M Cooler Master

I'm just mainly looking for guidance, I have literally no clue on what you should buy at the moment. I'm in a very different place now as I was 3 years ago so I no longer have the time to spend hours researching this stuff so any help would be very appreciated! Thanks!

Are you using an SSD? Do you plan to OC?

I would probably get something like this for your use case:

i7 12700

B660M Gaming X (you can get the AX version If you want Wifi+bluetooth) or MSI Pro Z690-A If you want more M.2 slots since its the same price as H670 boards.

2x16GB 3200Mhz CL16 RAM

Artic Freezer 34 eSports DUO (you are gonna need to get the LGA1700 mounting kit from Artic, It's free)

This build should be around ~ £600, If don't have an SSD you should get one.

2070super is about the same performance as a 3060ti iirc. You may want to keep it.  AMD ruled the roost for a bit, but intel finally put something together with its 12th gen so they’re a marginally better deal atm.  Sounds like you missed out on most of the GPU supply chain garbage.  They’re still over msrp, but it’s not as bad as it was. The 12th gen z motherboards are really expensive.  Well over $200 quite often.  To the point that b series is starting to look viable.  The 12th gen changes the whole K thing though with K chips also having more efficiency cores. Which may or may not matter to you.  Efficiency cores are currently worthless for gaming and some people are actually turning them off.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
