The answer is it depends. 

 

There's sata m.2 drives, and there's nvme m.2 drives .... if your new laptop supports only nvme drives, and your old drive is sata m.2 then it won't work. 

 

You can use macrium reflect or other tools to "clone" the original SSD to a file and then put the data to the new m.2 drive  - I think you can make a bootable usb stick with macrium reflect (if not there's other applications that can do it)
