I built a gaming PC at my fathers house (the second one I have built), and I have encountered a slight problem. When I press the power button on the case for the first time everything looked like it was working, fans were spinning up, I heard the HHD hard at work starting up, but after a few minutes of staring at a black screen I knew something was wrong. At first I thought I installed something wrong, but upon inspection that did not seem like the case. So I tried turning it on again to see the BIOS screen, then the computer worked perfectly with 0 problems as I played BF4 for a couple of hours. The problem seems to just be when I try to turn on the computer, where it seems that half the time it will just greet me with a black screen until I restart it a couple of times until I see the HDD light of my case turn on. I have been told by friends that it might be the RAM, which I incline to believe since the stick I used in this build is noticeably slower than the Corsair Vengeance in my first build, despite having the same speed. Just to clarify, the PC DOES work when whatever is not working decides to work, it's just a problem when I attempt to turn the computer on.

Help would REALLY be appreciated

Thanks

Is the ram a 1x8 or 2x4? If 2x4 try with only one mem installed. May be a memory chip or a memory slot issue.

Ya, try a memtest first... rule that out. Running the latest BIOS on your board and in Windows device manager, everything detected correctly?

It seems that I would have to buy that test to be able to use it, are there any free alternatives?
