Mac & PC compatible docking station

Hello everyone,

Our comany is pushing people back into the workplace and - while we will still be allowed to WFH 3 days a week - we must bring any peripherals we have taken from the office back. This includes the docking station I use for my Dell Latitude 7400 laptop.

I'm looking to buy a docking station that will be compatible with all of the laptops below through USB-C:

- Dell Latitude 7400

- Dell XPS 15 7590

- 2016 15 inch Macbook Pro

- 2019 13 inch MacBook Air (still an Intel based model)

Is there anything I should be looking for when making sure it is compatible with Mac? Does it have to be Apple certified or something? And if so, will it still work with Windows laptops as well?

Specs wise I only need the dock to be able to support two 1080p screens. Any brands/models you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

i've no idea how they perform with macs (or if they perform at all..) but HP's usb-c docks are a pretty safe bet. (not the thunderbolt ones, the basic usb-c ones) they've worked with just about anything i've hooked up to them, as long as it's designed to charge over a type c port.

My company provided one is a Targus DOCK180EUZ, so I'll probably go with this Targus DOCK423EU to stay with the same brand. It specifically mentions compatibility with Windows and macOS and spec-wise I should be fine.

These things seem pretty expensive for what they are. Is there much difference between 300€+ ones and the one I linked?
