8 and 4 pin cpu header what cables to use?

CriSis_

Hey,

I know I don’t need to use the additional 4 pin cpu header on my b550-e but I’d like to use it since i plan to oc my 5900x quite heavily. My sf750 has two 4+4 pin cpu cables, do I use either of the split ends of one cable for the 4 pin header?

Thanks for the help,

Lex

Yes, Split the end of one of the 4+4 to use as the 4, and combine the other one into an 8 pin for the 8 pin header.

Ah ok thanks 😆, just to confirm I can use either of the split ends right?

Correct. It should be keyed as well but each of the 4 pins should be keyed the same if memory serves me well in my old age.

Brilliant! Thanks very much for the help 😆. The cables have cpu on the side of them and split into two, other than that no markings 😁

Just realised the two splits of the 8 pin connectors have different shaped connectors? Are you sure I can use either split of the cable for the four pin?

My apologies for being a pain xD, first build so I’m terrified of frying something 😆

Only difference is the bottom side away from the clip 2 and 3. Rounded can fit just fine into a square hole, but square not into rounded. 100% normal and fine.

So no difference between the two halves despite shape difference? Again so sorry to be a pain xD

i think the fastest way to tell is see where the locking mechanism is on the socket and use the half that fits in with the latch on the same side

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately
