My girlfriend noticed that a couple of days ago her laptop started to get hotter, but she ignored it and continued to use it anyway.

She uses various 3d modeling programs and every time she used the programs the laptop got even hotter than before.

Sometimes she could smell a burn, but her father smokes a lot and she wasn't sure if it was the laptop or her father.

Yesterday, i found out that the problem was due to a windows widgets update that made the power usage and cpu temperature go much higher than normal, but i've fix the problem for her.

Do you think that using the 3d modeling programs with the laptop already hot because of the windows widgets bug could have burned her cpu?

She has laptops. They get hot. Facts of life. You should probably try to clean the laptop from dust. The CPU has auto-shutdown if it reaches dangerous temps (105C or something like that). But what you feel is way lower than what is actually hot.
