Recently completed some upgrades to my gaming rig and fps in pretty much every game I play is below expectations. I've looked at a lot of benchmarks with the same specs as mine and sometimes get double the fps I'm currently getting. I've tried everything I could but nothing seems to work after every troubleshoot.

Specs

Ryzen 5 5600x

RX 6800xt

16GB ram @ 2133mhz

700W PSU

B450 AORUS PRO mobo

-Almost all the important components like the cpu and gpu are new only thing that is not is the ram. This is getting extremely fucking annoying and I've been at this for months trying to fix it. Makes me want to go pre built. fml.

I play a lot of valorant and in a ranked game i get around 200, drops a lot tho, on all low settings 1080p. I expect to get more than 300 as i have a 240hz monitor.

Apex i also play at all low settings 1080p and in game i get around 150-170 but most benchmarks look to get about 240.

2133Mhz id bet money on it.

Thankfully with how Popular 3200Mhz and Higher is there are heaps of options for many budgets.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

do you think i would be able to overclock 2133mhz ram to 3200 or somewhere around there?

Unless your memory is rated for 3200MHz, you won't come anywhere near that and keeping it stable. Also is it 1x16GB or 2x8GB? If you're not using the dual channel you are leaving 10-15% performance on the table. Get 2x8GB 3600/4000MHz memory and get a proper B550 or X570 mobo for that GPU.

Also i guess you haven't seen any of Linus's or GN's videos about prebuilds. There is no way you'll get a better deal compared to configuring it on your own with a help from a friend or this community.

its 2x8 gb. I know that ryzen likes fast ram but i just thought i could overclock it to 3200mhz. And about Linus's videos on prebuilds, this is not a pre built. Also, why would i need to get a b550/x570?

First - your CPU and GPU support PCIe 4.0. The mobo is only 3.0. Although in theory the bandwidth is more than enough on gen 3 and there shouldn't be any difference in most games, in reality X570 and B550 mobos give 3-6% better performance on the same hardware, especially with faster RAM.

Second - the RX 6000 series GPUs support SAM - Smart Access Memory. Yes, sometimes it can be enabled on B450 or X470 (although a bit buggy and not always working as intended), officially it requires 500 series mobo.

Third - you can't simply overclock slow ram to whatever frequency you like. If that was the case, there wouldn't be a need for anything faster than 2133MHz. A nice 2x8GB @ 4000MHz CL16 kit would be perfect for a B550 Mobo with that CPU and GPU.

Getting just big fast CPU and GPU for your system and leaving everything else bottom tier is like getting a big V8 engine for you car + a giant turbo, but not doing anything to the fuel pump, injectors, ECU or the exhaust system.
