Yes.

Don't attempt to make any fixes yourself while it's brand new and subject to Asus' warrantee terms. Even while opening and fixing it yourself may work, if you break anything while trying to fix it, your chances of getting Asus to fix the original problem pretty much go out the window.

My son just bought an Asus G10CE. He's been saving for 3 years for a computer and the unit was on sale last week and checked all the boxes. He was super excited but when we got it yesterday and started to set it up the fan kept cycling up really high and then off. I brought up the Asus software to manage the fan and watched the CPU temps. It is a I5 11th gen.

At complete idle, nothing open, it seems to be sitting at 60-66 deg and then as soon as you do anything like open a browser or the Asus software it spikes up to near 100. We have not even tried with a game yet and I'm a little scared to try.

Is this normal temps? Should I be contacting Asus? Or maybe there is a physical problem I can address, like reseating the cooler or CPU?

Thanks in advance.

Talked to Asus tech. Told to return to Best buy for exchange or refund. Unfortunate, as the closest is 2 hours away but I will see if Best buy will exchange via courier.

While I was resetting to factory to pack it up it actually restarted with a CPU over temp error so I guess was correct in my judgment.

I was putting the mesh side back on like it came with and noticed the whole cooler seems loose on the chip.

It has been years since I had an intel CPU so maybe this is normal but maybe it is a reason for failure.
