New PC for Homeoffice and some gaming (AC, Sims 3), maybe using old GTX 970

JackCandem

Budget (including currency): 800 €

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Office Applications, Sims 3 and Assassins Creed (up to Blackflag is a must, everything newer would be nice)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No new peripherals, GTX 970 from my old PC.

My sisters old Pc (that she bought used) died, and it already has been really struggling with Blackflag anyways so it is probably time for a new pc. She will mostly use it for Homeoffice purposes but also to play Sims 3, and Assassins Creed. She would like to try out the "newer" titles (after Blackflag), but has no need for them to run at high or ultra settings.

I still have my old GPU (MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G) laying around so I was considering using that if possible to save her the cost of the GPU and either save money or spend more on the other components, so she can upgrade the GPU in 2-3 years separately if needed.

The case has to fit in a space that is 36,5cm (1,12ft) wide, 47,5cm (1,56ft) high and 60cm (1,97ft) deep.

GTX970 is more than enough for those titles. You can easily max those games out at 1080p (maybe 1440p or 4K as well) without a problem. Getting you a build list, sec.

I prefer 12400 instead of 12400F because having an onboard graphics will give the option to use the system without a graphics card if anything happens. CPU cooler is also optional, if you think you might add a RTX3060 or higher tier card, you might want to get a better power supply but other than that, just pick a case that you like the looks of.

this is what I would build, It's not 12th gen but it's also going to have a 970 so the extra 10-15% processor performance isn't going to be impactful compared to the price of an LGA1700 m-itx board+cpu

- hyper212 should have no problem at all cooling the cpu

- motherboard has built in wifi, nvme support for fast storage and decent IO

- Ram is nothing special and you could step up to 3600mhz CL16 for $30-40 more but it won't be noticeable unless she plans to push the system hard

- SSD - wasn't sure how much storage to put in so I went to 1TB as it's usually more than enough for games and files

- Case is really nice with tempered glass and small enough to fit anywhere while still having space for a full ATX psu and decent size graphics cards. The stock fan isn't enough for this case to move enough air so I added a pair of 140mm noctua redux fans to populate the the front of the case. (more than enough cooling to stay silent even at high loads)

- PSU is one of the standard go to's as well, fully modular to reduce cable bulk and more than enough power for the system, for $50 more you can get an 80+ platinum rated one but the PSU isn't going to be strained by the system so I wouldn't worry about it

The best gaming PC is the PC you like to game on, how you like to game on it

FWIW, I was able to play AC Odyssey on High settings at around 40fps at 1080p on a 4690K/GTX 970, so it's more than enough to handle AC titles if you crank down the settings.

This should comfortably fit many ATX cases. Maybe the Corsair 4000D Airflow?

It's entirely possible that I misinterpreted/misread your topic and/or question. This happens more often than I care to admit. Apologies in advance.
