GPU related advice

Hello!

 

My 1080ti gave up on me recently and I am wondering if I should buy a 3080 at such inflated prices? Considering Intel's ARC announcement and the fact that the 4000 series is only a couple of quarters away, I am really confused.

 

Kindly share your advice. FYI - I am using a Z390 /8700K combo.

I would hold off, if you can.

These prices will be here to stay for a while, even if Nvidia somehow makes RTX4XXX series cards impossible to mine with, prices still will be significantly inflated due to demand.

 

I assume trying to get your card repaired is completely out of question?

Looks that way. I am based out of India and couldn't find any genuine service shops.

RTX 3050 is a bit faster than GTX 1070 for nVidia lower end.

I'd suggest RX 6600 XT though.

I'd get the cheapest dedicated card you can find that'll let you game. Even if that means a 6500XT or RX570... As awful as that 6500 is, it's like half the price of the 3050, and still WAY better than integrated graphics.

If you can, wait. The current market is no good for GPU drivers.

 

While intel integrated graphics aren't ideal, you can still use streaming services like Nvidia Geforce Now, Playstation Now, and Google Stadia to have a great singleplayer experience. Just about the only games that you can't really play on these platforms are the ones where split second decisions are everything (eg., CSGO, Doom Eternal, etc.).

GPU prices are high right now, but we can't put a price on how much you value your entertainment
