Budget headset recommendation

I just ordered all the parts to a PC and I need a headset to go along with it. I have about $40 US to spend and I need a built in mic and cable spilter. I am kind of set on the HS35 from Corsair as my keyboard and mouse are both corsair and I know they make good quality products. If anyone has any other recommendations or wants to steer me clear of this headset for any reason I am open. Thanks in advance.

I think below about $100 it kind of doesn't matter what you get.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with @ShearMeand say at that budget, it's going to be a crap shoot. LTT did a budget headset round up but I didn't absorb anything from there because I'm not in the market.

The only thing I could possibly add is the kph30i is $30usd ($20 if you can catch something like a black friday level sale) and it has a mic built in. This would lean heavily towards the media consumption side vs the communication area but there's a chance they fit your need. Throw in a $6 adapter and you're under budget. Throw in a $11 pair of grado knock off pads and you're slightly over budget but that can be done later. For listening these will be your best option, I love mine with a passion and couldn't put them down for half a day after I put them on and have used them daily for 2 years.
