Mysterious Intel atoms

Hello,

I am a new member of the forums and wanted to show some really weird stuff that I have found. I was digging on Intel's website one day (dont remember why) and I got myself into this large rabbit hole of weird and unusual Atom CPUs (including but not limited to P5962B, P5942B) with high core amounts (8,12,16,24). I tried to investigate some of them and can't really find anything on them except for here. Another weird thing I found out about them is that they were all released in Q1, 20. Not only was that around the time of the beginning of the pandemic but also about 2-4 years after they "stopped" making atom processors and about 8 years after server processor production. I can't find a solid number on when Intel completely stopped making Atom's.

Apparently special processors intended for 5G base stations  
Makes sense normal tech sites won't cover them

hmm. ok. I just wonder why they picked the atom name after they said that they would close production a few years back

The Centrino name is what they stopped production of. 

 

Intel atom is still produced today for low power systems called "mini pc".
