Replacing my power cable

Go to solution Solved by RONOTHAN##,

You just need to make sure that the cable is rated for the amount of current you'll be using with the system. Pulling more current than what a cable is rated for can cause it to heat up and possibly melt the insulation and cause it to catch fire. That said, finding a power cable that's rated for less than 600w is pretty difficult, and you only really should be concerned about this when you have high power systems with equally high capacity power supplies (I.E. a 1000w PSU with a 3090, you want to make sure you've got a high current cable).

So just got a new desk which is quite far away from the wall sockets so my current psu cable can't make a clean run. Looking at Amazon there are plenty of 3 pin power supply cables that say for pc but don't say anything about wattage. Is this something I need to be concerned about when getting a 5m replacement or will weak cables damage the psu? My psu is Seasonic S12 III 650W 80+ bronze which had a 13a fuse.
