Hi there, a while back Linus did a video about the EXP GDC BEAST, and it gave me an idea.

The GPU I am using (Nvidia GT 1030) is very underpowered for gaming, and I can’t afford a better one, so I thought I could use the EXP GDC BEAST to be able to add a 2nd Graphics card that I’m not using and increase the avaliable VRAM on my PC, is this at all possible for desktop PCs and can I increase framerates by doing this?

SPECS:

Motherboard: ASUS TUF A520M-Plus

CPU: AMD Athlon 220g

GPU: Nvidia GT1030 (2gb of VRAM)

RAM: 32gb DDR4 3666mhz

No, you wouldn't do much.

Your best choice would probably be to sell the RAM and the CPU and go with a faster CPU and 16 GB of memory.

The video card is too slow to be throttled by the CPU, but some games will be throttled by the CPU so by upgrading the CPU you'll get a boost in games and in general.

Also, the motherboard is probably A320, not A520 ... as 220g is not supported on the 520 chipset ?

My CPU isn’t the problem, it’s my GPU, and my motherboard is 100% an ASUS TUF A520m plus

So how is your 1st generation Zen CPU running on a motherboard that only supports 3rd generation and newer?

It works just fine, boots up normally and can run games decently.

The motherboard is fully compatible with my CPU and is what could fit in my budget when I upgraded last month.

You can sell your 1030 for at least 50 in this market. I am trying to buy a low profile second GPU and the best deal I found was 95€ for 730GT. If you can, sell your 1030 to a sucker like me as high as possible and get a 1050Tay.

I’ve been thinking of selling my GT1030 and my old GT440 to get enough for a GTX1080ti

Getting "more vram" (doesn't work this way) on a underpowerd card like a 1030 won't do anything for you. You need a higher performance card not more vram.

I mean your whole system is very low end with a ton of ram.

What you need is a better gpu not some hacked together solution that won't do anything for you.

Sure but that 220g is going to severely hold back a 1080ti.
