I have an msi motherboard, paired with a ryzen 7 5800x and an msi 3060ti. How can I tell if all of my drivers are up to date. And what do I do with the zip folders that get downloaded?

You want some sort of automatic feature that checks if each driver for every peripheral or system is up to date according to its database? There are a couple apps that do that.  They’re not known to be terribly reliable.  Windows does that itself to a certain extent.  It causes problems sometimes as it Al’s likes to auto update them, or used to.  Which motherboard might be useful. Drivers are for a lot of things though not just GPUs.   There is a list of which drivers are being used.  It’s in settings somewhere I think.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Do you know what model the MSI is?  If not, then you should find that and write it down.  That way, when it is written down it is easier to find the next time you need it.

Using the model number you just wrote down, go to the MSI website (https://us.msi.com/support/download/nb), put in the information that it asks for and then download what you need.  I figure you can do the same for the video card.

If you just received (new) the MSI stuff, you should probably go to their website and register your purchase.  That would help in-case you need to get something fixed or returned.

MSI has some software called MSI Afterburner, maybe you should download/install that too.  It probably will give you some helpful information that you could use.\

Good Luck

Unfortunately I have been unable to locate that software and at the same time is FREE.  If you find it, repost here and let me know.  One software that does driver hunting is called DriverFix.  They have $19.95 a year for one PC for starters.

Manually checking for outdated drivers can be annoying. The most typical method for updating a driver for Windows is to utilize an installer tool provided by the vendor. So if you still have your original installers, you can use them to update your drivers.

If you have Windows 10 or 11, Windows update will handle the drivers.

If you have older Windows, then you need to use manual downloading. Though you only need to install most drivers once. Updating is rarely required. You extract zip files and run .exe or .msi from there. Once completed, you can remove all those files. You also may need to restart couple times.
