Hi LTT forum. I have recently come across the issue that my HP Elitebook x360 830 G7 that I use for school often takes like 2-3 minutes to shut down. If it is plugged in, the fan spins up and there is warm air so it is doing something still. It also occurs on battery. Does anyone know why this is occuring and how I could fix that?

how full is the hard-drive

Not really. I used like 100 GB and around 400 are still free

how old is the laptop

Half a year. It has a Core I7 10750U in it and this only started occuring recently, like last week or so. I have run Malwarebytes and it didn't find any problems and it still takes too long to shut down

i see, yeah thats odd then...

any windows updates recently,  any new programs,  etc?

you could also check running processes if you see anything unusual (such as windows update service, etc, which isnt really "unusual" but shouldn't run all the time either)

If I shut it down, the CPU usage is usually 1-3% and there is nothing running. The ofd thing is, that the keyboard backlight turns off quickly after the screen goes dark but comes almost right back on. It is like windows is shut down but the machine is still running. I once had this occur to my gaming laptop too and it just went away on its own after it happened 2-3 times. I check for updates every saturday and do them. I havent installed any new software for a longer time except for malwarebytes to check for viruses.

I just turned off fast boot. I am quite sure that it was deactivated before. Now it still took longer than usual but the shutdown screen was there all the time now instead of the screen going blank. This might have fixed the issue. I will boot it back up and then shut it down again to see if it helped and then I'll edit this post accordingly.

Edit: it took a bit but not longer than what I am used to. So this problem is solved now. Thanks for all your suggestions!
