So I just got asked and was ousted in my church as a "Tech Guy" which I am fine with, but I need help to know what I am going to want to do. I will be using the church account for Zoom to run the stream but I want to know what mirrorless camera I can get that I can use that will work for them and me because would own the equipment and stream for myself, I also would want to use the churches built-in microphone for audio and my blue yeti for the choir when they occasionally sing for the congregation. I'm looking at the Sony Alpha 6100 mirrorless camera, are there options in a similar price range that I could use that would be better. I would consider putting the camera in front of the speaker or either at the back of the room depending on what the camera could do. I'm also using an HP Pavilion Laptop for the computer... will I need to change this to something better?

I'd use a camcorder here not a mirrorless body

I run a setup like this a good amount and we use Sony PTZ cameras. Then you can fully remotely control the cameras, and mount the cameras somewhere out of the way, and need almost no setup to make it work day of.

But if you go with a more standard camera, get a camcorder. Cheaper, much better zoom ranges, many have clean hdmi out, normally them come with external power connectors too.

  • 2 weeks later...

I’d recommend taking a look at Canon, they have a eos webcam utility which supports a number of cameras. For example, my Canon EOS 7D works just fine as a 1080 30 frames or 720 60 frame webcam. Used canons don’t cost much and I’m sure you can find one second hand.
