I tried installing a bunch of skyrim mods a long time ago, got them all downloaded and used the nexus mod manager, and it didnt work (or at least I didnt notice the difference). I have a folder here called Skyrim Realistic Overhaul. I have no idea how to install it, or if its worth installing.

Basically, I need some bad ass mods to make my game look awesome with the setup I have. If someone could suggest some mods and how to install them, or point me in a direction id appreciate that.

I'd get the "recommended mods" and "essential mods" listed here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936/?

try them and see which you like best. It's a long process so be aware of that :P

I've spent more time modding Skyrim than playing it.

edit: +1 to the Gopher suggestion. https://www.youtube.com/user/GophersVids/playlists

The only visual mods I have installed for Skyrim are the high-res texture pack that Bethesda released, and one called Immerssive Saturation Boost, I think.

Everything else I use is mostly for atmospheric purposes. Like the Sounds of Skyrim series (if you don't have that... install it).

Most visual mods make the game look worse, in my opinion... with very few exceptions.

Here is a good link to get you started in swimming through the sea of mods.  I don't consider this list definitive in any way, but it's a very good one, and it's well laid out.

If you want to go real in-depth, check out Gopher's Youtube Channel.  If you're completely new to modding, he's got a GREAT beginner's guide to modding Skyrim that's also applicable to other similar games.  If you're familiar with the procedure, you can skip to the 5th video in that guide and it'll start looking at some of the main mods used (user interface, water, weather, et cetera).

CPU: Intel i7 7700K · MoBo: Asus Maximus Hero IX · RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum (2x8GB 2400MHz CL10) · GPU: EVGA SC+ GTX 980Ti (6 GB)
Case: Fractal Define R5, Black, Windowed · AMC: Corsair H90 with NF-A14 PWM (Pull)  · PSU Corsair HX 750W · SSD: 500GB Samsung 840 EVO
HDDs: WD Black 2TB and 2x Red 5TB · OS: Windows 10 · KB: Logitech 710+ · Mouse: Logitech G700S
· Monitor: Acer XB270HU
