call me crazy. but i gently tightened the waterblock on my ryzen cpu while running a CPU stress test. results were 12C drop in load temps. your results may vary. i dont think anyone ever checks this / runs tests on this. its always install and forget it lets see what our temps are. no one goes back with a screw driver and gives it an extra little turn to see if you can get some better temps.

99% of blocks these days have specific tensions already preset that you should just screw down until you can no longer screw down to get the proper mounting pressure. If you don't have it screwed all the way down, then your temps will almost certainly be higher due to poor contact between the cold plate and the IHS.

Overtightening generally improves temps all the way up to it being too tight for the system to post.
