dose it matter waht side of the cables i use on the fully modular EVGA supernova gold 650 PSU? liek one side is an 8 pin and other side mbeing an 6+2 pin, while the motherbard cable has the split pins on one side and not on the other. i read using the wrong cables with the psu can cuase major problems so wonderign if side matters?

i see forr the mobo cord tho it seems to want me to plug in the 18+10 pin into the PSU and the 24 pin stick out, unfortnaly thugh the motherbard has the smaller pins connector. will i need an adaptor? will that cuase problems? i dont knwo if i can send the PSU back and get another one?

Yes it matters. You need to plug the PSU side of the cables in to the PSU. For PCIe cables the 6+2 side will be the graphics card side. For the motherboard the 20+4 pin connector goes in to the motherboard and the 10+18 connectors go in to the power supply.

What motherboard are you using? If it has a 24pin connector the EVGA cable will fit. Only reason it won't fit is if you're using a motherboard that has a proprietary connector like a Dell or HP.

Agree with Spotty but to give some more insight. Each connector uses different power so VGA labeled cables are for your GPU. You also have CPU labeled cables. You do need to keep all of those connected properly on the power supply. For example, if you run a power cable from the 8 pin on your motherboard you need to connect it to the CPU labeled plugs on your power supply. Don't plug it into anything else. That will cause problems.

What's the exact model of PC you have? Can you post a pic of the connector on the motherboard.

Those two adapters you posted are very different.

i foudn this website alogn with some youtube videos of them using a 750W gold evga supernova along with the adaptot.

i jsut got the gtx 970 in the mail so cant really use it till i get the PSU adaptor, but i noticed my card has two 6 pins instead of one 8 pin one 6 pins? why? should i use "vga 1" to power BOTH the 6 pins? or should i use VGA 1 and VGA 2 to connect to it SEPERATELY? seems wont be recivign the adaptor thugh till aroudn 22nd next month thugh so hope nothing needs a 30 day warrenty.

also i see a conenctort on the top? so can put an extention on the card? i hope the 650W is enugh

BUMP, stil waiting for the adaptor in the mail, anybody have edxperiance with those adaptors? (24 pin to 18 pin) it worrys me beucsae says uses japenese cords or soemthign that are DIFFRENT from "regular" ones, but then read its jsut the SATA and CPU eta and NOT the power (seeing as video and fourm showing someone installing the same PSU, gold 750W insttead 650W tho) and shows it CAN bve done, i spent extra 5$ for one that SIED it works with the z230, since some didden tlist mine so figured better saf ethan sorry.

but still wondering if ANYONE had expeiance wqith that? i think testing out this adaptor should be something linus do on his youtube channel as he ofton likes to look at wired only usefull for pacific uses compouter parts.
