Is there a difference between an MX500 and a BX500?

BX is the budget option but will do it's job fine enough. If I remember correctly the MX have DRAM cache and the BX does not?

Yeah, MX500 has a DRAM cache and BX500 does not. Typically they're not too far apart in price so MX is worth the little extra money.

Is that bad if it doesn't have a DRAM cache. (Fun fact I used say "cache" like "catch" lol.)

It hurts performance quite a bit. It's generally worth the money to go for a drive with a DRAM cache.

From where I'm getting it from it's a buck more for a MX500, in terms of a 2tb drive.

It's not great, no. However not essential. My GF have a BX500 (my old one) it has no issue while it would be faster with DRAM cache.

 

How much faster? Loading a game would be a little faster but not a whole lot since the BX loads games decently.. If you are moving large files from here to there you would definitely notice. Is the MX worth it, I don't know the difference in price and I got my old BX for free essentialy so it depends on the price gap I guess but DRAM cache is something that you want for sure.

No brainer.  Get MX.
