The Z97-A doesn't have a built in WiFi NIC. You'd need to buy one if you don't already.

Many ways to get into device manager:

You can use Windows Search and just search "Device Manager".

Right click on the start icon and select device manager

Open a run command (Win + R) and enter "devmgmt.msc"

But that board still doesn't ship with on-board WiFi.

If you have a Dongle or PCI Card you can identify it with

  • PCI
    • Basic Output
      • sudo lspci
    • Detailed Output
      • sudo lspci -v
  • USB
    • Basic Output
      • sudo lsusb
    • Detailed Output
      • sudo lsusb -v

You can also browse the mostly relevant information that those 2 commands spit out with HardInfo if you prefer a basic GUI, it's possible that this is available in your Distro's Repository or Software Center.

In a terminal what is the output of lspci?

Also what Distro are you using?

In Konsole I tried sudo Ispci and sudo Ispci-v.  Konsole replies: : command not found.

Is there something here that I am just missing?

I have the IP address, product model # and the password supplied by my vendor for wireless service. Their service works fine on two smart TVs and the antique Toshiba laptop running 8.1 with which I must use to try and figure out my problem I seem to be having.

BTW Thank all of you who have contributed their help with my problem

I read the unix/linux Iscpi command page in Tutorialspoint and it said nothing about :Ispc: command not being found.

SOLVED

Y'all have been very helpful. The problem seems to be without the internet I can't access the internet without the wireless being hooked up; hence no terminal.

So I was told by the "installer of AT&T service" that there was no way to hook up their service to an ethernet!her cable connection. So out of desperation, I pulled out their equipment they installed behind the TV cabinet; and lo and behold! There was four ethernet connections on their box!! Plugged in my ethernet cable: instant connection to the internet.

For what it's worth, don't take for granted these "installers" know what they are talking about. I ask

ed him numerous times if I could use my existing ethernet cable once He got the service connected to inside my house. Each time I tried to rephrase my question, I got a no from him. It's like all he had was standard answers like a robot.

Sorry AT&T your "servicemen" need to have more training.
