New AIO fan starting to rattle after a month

Tech Reprise

Hi.

Just bought a Deepcool Castle 240EX A-RGB a month back and one of the fans has started to rattle. Its kind of like a scratchy rattling sound which occurs at 100% duty cycle and goes away at 88% and below.

The fan is advertised as a Hydro Bearing.

Here are the specs:

Fan Dimensions 120×120×25 mm
Fan Speed 500~1800 RPM±10%
Fan Airflow 69.34 CFM
Fan Air Pressure 2.42 mmAq
Fan Noise ≤30 dB(A)
Fan Connector 4-pin PWM
Bearing Type Hydro Bearing

I faced the exact same issue in another Deepcool Cooler which had a similar bearing.

Is this because of the bearing which looks like a glorified Sleeve bearing and since Deepcool is hiding the bearing mttf I suspect it to be a Sleeve bearing and not a true hydro bearing.

Will there be any performance decrease in AIO if I run it at a lower RPM (88% duty 1753rpm 60ish cfm /fan) ?New Recording.m4a

The noise can be heard twice in this short recording. I can upload a better one tomorrow. And one thing I forgot to mention is that the noise goes away if I push the blade very slightly to lower rpm.

Lucky for u P12 ARGBs are cheap and much better 🙂

Sickleflow 120 argb's are cheaper than the P12 and I think have better airflow. How about the Silverstone Ab120r?

They'll ship a new one if you let know.

Or

Get different fans up to you

At this point I am thinking its just sleeve bearing noise so not worth it as per me. Will try with some other fans for now.

might have better airflow. but noise to performance? never.
