GPU Compatibility

Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

They have absolutely nothing to do with each other nor do they interact in any way. As long as the mobo has a PCIe slot it'll be fine.

So I am going to be buying a cheap GTX 745 and was wondering if GDDR3 works on my DDR2 Motherboard. I’ve seen people put GDDR5 GPUs in DDR3 motherboards and was wondering if it would be compatible.

Main thing: Can GDDR3 GPU go into a DDR2 Motherboard?

Thanks for any help.

The RAM on the GPU has nothing to do with what the chipset of the mobo is capable of. The mobo handles the main system RAM, and the GPU 100% handles its own RAM.
