newly built pc not turning on

Gloll

just built a new pc today and after installing all the parts it won’t turn on, motherboard lights up but nothing else moves or makes any noises. the motherboard is a z590 plus wi-fi and it has a 12 pin connector in the top but our power supply only has the 8 pin 4x4 that we connected to it. could that be the problem?

we also took out the gpu in order to take out the small battery and then put it back in and try to see if that worked.

Check the motherboard user manual which ports should be used. I recently built a computer for my brother and it required both the 8pin and 4pin connectors to get power from the PSU. A split 8 pin aka 2x 4pin connectors are fine, just plug one of the 4pins and the other one doesn't get plugged into anything.
