Hey LTT,

I got my 780 ti classified about a week ago and I finally got around to overclocking it. I have great cooling and my card never goes above 82 at max everything in EVGA precision. To make things clearer I can set the temps and power target as high as i want and i never get above 82c. But the instance I touch the offsets everything goes to hell. I can raise it 1 Mhz and the drivers crash. Would overclocking while in game cause this because i have bf4 open. I'm kinda a noob at overclocking and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You should be able to overclock with things open.  I do and it works fine.

Try different drivers.  What driver revision are you using?

it's because you have BF4 open.

BF4 is weird. I'll try it tomorrow. It's late.

Try using 335.23, because it shouldn't be crashing at a 1 mhz OC.

It is either your GPU can't OC at all which would make it a dud and i would RMA it quick or your method of OCing is flawed. Normal GPU OCing is to OC the GPU and stress test it before playing any games with the OC. In my case i OCed my GPU and got it stable and saved it as a profile and when i go to game i just click the profile i want. This way if your OC is stable and then you play some game and it crashes you know that game maybe causing it and you may need to apply more voltage foe the OC to become stable, however at you temperature you may not get a high OC.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.
