WD Reds run quieter and cooler that's about it. WD Blues and Barracudas could do just fine too, maybe not as reliable, though WD Reds have some awful reviews.

Thanks! I might go with the WD Blue.. I stumbled upon some forums, is it true that WD Reds are much the same with WD Greens?

Reds have longer warranty and 24/7 phone support and are supposed to be more reliable like I said. Greens are just plain bad for anything imo.

What about the blacks?

Good, but way overkill for htpc, also loud and hot.
