Is Mcafee worth it?

Chances are most of the preinstalled stuff you got on your PC on top of a basic installation is crap that the manufacturer got paid to include. Mcafee is garbage, windows defender is good enough for most people. Just uninstall mcafee and Windows Defender should just come back in and work properly. You can check if windows defender is on on the windows security panel.

So about 4-5 months ago I got my laptop which came with lots of preinstalled programs and subscriptions one of them was Mcafee. I had heard it has a performance impact quite a while ago but today I saw this happen on my pc. So I wanted to ask if Its worth it at all since It eats a whole lot of ram (I have 8gb and I need that extra ram) And about 10% of my cpu entirely to Mcaffe. It has detected a few viruses on my pc since I got it. Should I uninstall Mcafee?,or should I wait for my free sub to expire?

I'd recommend Malware Bytes as well, in addition to Defender.  They plug each other's gaps pretty well.
