I have an SSD drive with windows installed and 2 HDD drives for my games and other software.
However, I now have 30GB spare space on my SSD and only play 2 games that are 5GB each.

If I leave steam installed on my HDD and change the install folder of the 2 games to my SSD, will this allow the games to run faster?

Depends on the game. Large games which needs to load in lots of textures do benifit from SSD's. However when the game is only 5 GB it's probably not going to make a huge diffrence.

I advice you not to put the games on your SSD however. SSD's die quicker when they are almost full to capacity.

i would think it would rub faster yes, BUT i strongly advise against leaving only 20gb left on your disk, having a too full windows disk can slow down windows, and other things.

You should keep this much space free:

For an SSD, the recommendation is higher -- about 25 percent.

But i would keep the 30gb free and just take the extra loading time.

Depending on your ssd size, you have to make the judgement if its worth it or not ofcourse. :old-smile:

In general they will not run faster, but the time needed to start them (load from disk) and to load save games may be a lot shorter.

Possible exception may be games that stream in textures while gaming (e.g. large open world games) which could reduce stuttering since loading those resources is now faster.

I have been able to free up space on the drive. One game is on and I have 40.8GB free. The game I play is Football Manager 2022 (Soccer), a simulation game so involves a lot of loading between days, weeks & games.
