I just upgraded my internet to the Fibre 1 in Calgary here and got a shiny new white Paper weight of a router from Shaw. I am running a second router for the actual wifi in my house because these Shaw ones are garbage. I have ASUS RT-AC68U 1900. As of now I'm actually running both my router and the Shaw modem as a router. Is there any advantage to bridging the connection and shutting off the Shaw wifi from that router. I have a Cat 7 cable running from the Shaw router to mine. I does mean I have 4 networks in the house because of they are both dual bandwidth. They are running in different channels to eliminate as much over lap as possible. My three desktops are plugged directly in. Two of them to the Asus router and one to the Shaw router. I have quit a few wifi items in the house on different floors. Everything from phones to a desktop computer, amazon fire stick, and a ps4. The Asus router alone covers the entire house way better than Shaw modem that seems to have issues from even one room to the next.

Has Linus done any videos on Bridging connection and what the benefits or drawbacks are? I'm new to the forums and this question may have been answered before someone on the forums. The base questions really is, should I be bridging the connection and will my network suffer if I plan on running everything off this Asus router? Ever since the Hitron modems that Shaw out here has been using I've been less than impressed with the Modems they provide.
