5600x vs 5600g while considering GPU shortage.

SaladGreens

I think I have settled on getting the newest gen ryzen. But I want to play bf2042 and have a 780 that cant support the required dx12.

The plan is getting a 2060 once they get relaunched. Rumours say December to mid 2022.

But right now I am wondering if I should get a 5600x and hope I get a 2060 some time soon, or-

forge some performance and pci4.0 support to guarantee that I can at least play modern dx12 only games.

What is your performance expectation? Specifically for BF2042, the minimum requirement is for a 1050 Ti or RX 560. The 5600g by itself I don't think meets that.

I would get the 5600X because the 780 would be more powerful than the Vega. Vega is slightly better than a 1030.

If possible try looking for a 12600K(F) and Z690. This should be even better.

The Ryzen APUs trade CPU performance for the iGPU. A 5600G is roughly equivalent in perf to a 3600. Still not bad, by any means, but if you have any sort of dedicated GPU already, it's not worth making that trade off. I'd get the 5600X.
