Prime95 for testing AMD FX

Not sure that this belongs here, maybe it should be in software. Move if necessary.

 

I recently heard from a friend (who is usually quite reliable) that Prime95 is not appropriate for stress testing AMD FX Bulldozer CPUs. I'm fairly sure that Prime95 is good for testing AMD FX processors, but I would like a second opinion here. Also, would OCCT be a good alternative?

it's fine but I personally recommend intel burn test as a more proper stability test.

I like it. It proves that the FX stock heatsink can handle a little 100 or so watt CPU with no problem. But personally, I prefer OCCT over Prime95.

OCCT is a pretty good stress test, though the Linpack isn't as brutal as people make out imo.

Seems to work well for me. I used to get errors at stock settings in Prime 95 but after a BIOS update the problem seems to be fixed!

IBT doesnt work with AMD cpus as it is made for intels
