touchpad or controller?

So Here's a question for everybody. If you're unable to play games using a mouse+keyboard combo which is the preffered alternative? Controller or touchpad?

Gaming on a touchpad is a nightmare. Gaming on a controller is at least usable, if not preferred depending on the game.

there are so many touchpads out there that don't let you move the mouse cursor while a keyboard key is pressed (it's blocked specifically because normal use would never type and mouse at the same time so it would always be removed for palm rejection) so you can only use touchpad for a card game.... or turn by turn action (darkest dungeon , CIV, auto battelers)

you can't play anything first person or very active (no rts, no moba).

if i'm going to limit myself to taht i might aswell just use keyboard no mouse on some emulator gamepad games nes snes gameboys don't have any use for a mouse
